I. When a Frisbee Meets Forever

How a Casual Toss Turned into a Lifelong Catch

They didn’t meet on an app. They didn’t bump into each other at work. Nope—it was a frisbee. A sunny afternoon, a playful toss, and bam—Tricia and Steve’s story began. There was something unmistakably natural in their chemistry, even as they chased plastic through the park. That initial connection led to their first date at a cozy Irish pub, filled with craft beer, laughter, and a shared love for dry humor.

What followed was a whirlwind of inside jokes, "Parks and Rec" binges, road trips, and Sunday morning coffee rituals. The kind of storybook romance where real life feels better than fiction. The kind that builds slowly, but surely—through small gestures, knowing glances, and the kind of quiet support that becomes the foundation for a lifetime.

Their wedding weekend was a celebration of this journey—two unique people coming together, perfectly in sync, with a deep love rooted in friendship and fun.

II. Vows Under Stained Glass Skies

A Ceremony at Sacred Heart Church, Shadyside

Friday afternoon in Pittsburgh brought a crisp breeze and skies full of promise as family and friends gathered at the Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside. If you’ve never seen this venue, it’s truly a gem. Gothic spires, cavernous ceilings, and luminous stained glass bathe the entire space in color and reverence. It’s one of the most breathtaking wedding venues in Pittsburgh and an absolute dream for wedding photographers in the city.

Tricia looked radiant as she entered through the massive wooden doors. The long aisle gave everyone time to take in her gown’s train flowing behind her, each step echoing through the cathedral in a near-silent reverence. Steve’s eyes brimmed with tears as he saw his bride, and their ceremony in the Chapel of Mary—tucked into a more intimate wing—made for incredibly moving and personal vows.

As a wedding photographer in Pittsburgh, it’s moments like these that I live for: unguarded emotion, timeless architecture, and the kind of light that seems to hold its breath for love.

III. Skyline Soirée

A Southside Celebration at Hyatt House Terrace

Two days later, the scene shifted from sacred to sparkling. Sunday’s celebration brought Tricia and Steve to The Terrace at Hyatt House South Side, one of Pittsburgh’s most unique wedding venues. Overlooking the Monongahela River, this venue blends city chic with waterfront romance.

They decked it out in warm lights, greenery, and personalized touches—from custom cocktail napkins with inside jokes to a signature cocktail named after their dog. The reception had all the charm of a backyard bash with the polish of an upscale venue.

The golden hour light spilling over the water was a wedding photographer’s dream. We captured romantic wedding photos along the riverwalk, dancing shadows from the bridge, and champagne-popping moments with the skyline in full view. It was the perfect canvas for candid Pittsburgh wedding photography that truly told the story of their day.

As the DJ ramped up and guests flooded the dance floor, you could feel the joy radiating through every beat. The room pulsed with laughter, clinking glasses, and a few surprisingly competitive dance battles. Even Grandma made it out for the Cupid Shuffle. It was the kind of party that people talk about for years.

IV. The Forever Kind of Love

A Tale Told in Laughter, Tears, and Timeless Photos

Tricia and Steve’s wedding was more than a celebration—it was a love letter to who they are and how they got here. Every element, from the grandeur of Sacred Heart Church to the lively rhythm of the Hyatt House Southside reception, reflected their personalities and shared history.

Their wedding photography told the full story: the quiet anticipation before walking down the aisle, the tears during vows, the stolen kisses on the rooftop terrace. These images weren’t just posed—they were lived. Each frame captured the electricity of a moment, the softness of a glance, the undeniable sense that this was something extraordinary.

They didn’t just throw a wedding. They threw a party that honored their past, embraced their present, and launched a future built on partnership, humor, and late-night rewatch sessions of their favorite sitcoms.

Final Thoughts from a Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer

As a wedding photographer in Pittsburgh, I’ve captured over 300 weddings—but Tricia and Steve’s weekend was a standout. It was deeply personal, wildly fun, and emotionally resonant. From a gothic cathedral to a riverside rooftop, it was a reminder that the best wedding photography doesn’t just document an event—it tells a story.

To Tricia and Steve: Thank you for letting us in on your love story. Here’s to many more sunsets, spontaneous games of frisbee, and moments of laughter that last a lifetime.
